Pork, Red Wine & Plum Casserole

  • 1 tbsp Cornflour
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil
  • 1c Plum Sauce
  • 1c Red Wine plus 1 Tbsp Red Wine
  • 500g Leg or Shoulder NZ Pork Steaks, diced
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tsp Olive Oil


Mix the brown sugar, 1 tbsp red wine, soy sauce, cornflour, oil, cinnamon and garlic together in a bowl.

Add the Trim Pork, toss to coat in the marinade, cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 170°C.

Heat the sesame oil in a frying pan. Remove the pork from marinade and add to pan. Stir-fry until brown. Transfer to a casserole dish.

Add reserved marinade, plum sauce and red wine to pan. Bring to the boil, then pour over pork.

Cover the casserole and place in preheated oven.

Cook for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours or until the pork is tender. Serve with wild rice and steamed vegetables.

Tip: Make sure the pieces of pork are approximately the

same size so they cook evenly.
